Mulberry Minishoots – Saturday 11th September 2021

What is a minishoot?

Hi and welcome to my Mulberry minishoot page. I have set this up for anybody whose child attends Mulberry Pre-School and whose photograph I took for pre-school recently.

As much as it was adorable shooting the pre-schoolers last week, I know that many parents would appreciate some family photos and sibling photos as well. So I have decided to run a special minishoot day where you can book a slot and spend 45 minutes with me and I will capture your family – whether you want posed or just chilled, I can help you! I will bring bubbles and other various props and we will have 45 minutes of fun and frolics.

Minishoots are great if you just want a quick snapshot of your family or if you have younger children who don’t have the concentration for a longer shoot. My family shoots last up to 3 hours but you do get to decide the date and location.

The beauty of minishoots is that I stay in one location and the clients come to me. This is a very efficient way to work and means I can shoot loads of families in one day. We do have to run things promptly though so that I don’t overrun for the next family.

Location of Mulberry Minishoots

The location of the Mulberry Minishoots is Lakeside in Eastleigh. If you haven’t been here before, it is a lovely little country park just opposite Southampton Parkway. It has a couple of lakes that are popular with fishermen all year around, as well as some awesome little steam engines that you can pay to ride up to the park and back.

There is loads of space to run around, lots of wildflowers as well as some beautiful shaded areas that are perfect in the middle of summer!

I will meet you at the car park at the far end, next to the barrier and together we walk to the location I am based at.

It is also dog-friendly, so please feel free to bring your fur baby as well as I am a firm believer that dogs are important family members and should be included wherever possible!

Pricing of Mulberry Minishoots

I try and keep my pricing as transparent as possible. You will initially be charged £50 for the shoot. This will cover my time on the shoot itself as well as all the edited photographs afterwards.

What happens after your minishoot?

1-2 weeks after your shoot you will receive a link to your gallery (this will be on the same gallery link as your pre-school photos and will be listed under ‘new scene’). You will have already paid £50 so you are welcome to stick with the Blue package and choose your 3 digital downloads and 2 corresponding prints and let me know so I can order and enable the download functionality.

If you can’t decide and would like to upgrade to the Green or Red package, just drop me a message and I will invoice you the difference and then enable the download functionality and order your prints. Prints will normally be delivered within 1 week. If you wanted to buy any products then these may take a while longer depending on the size and number.

FAQs

What do we do if it's raining?

I will keep an eye on the weather forecasts in the days leading up to our shoot. If it looks like it’ll just been patchy rain, then I suggest we go ahead. However if it looks really horrible then I suggest we rearrange to a different date or time and keep everything crossed that the Great British Weather is on our side!

What should we wear?

I always advise my families that the most important thing in family shoots is that everybody feels comfortable. There is no point getting the children to wear their best clothes if they feel really awkward, because this will be written all over their faces.

If you really want to make the most from your shoot though, I always suggest that a similar theme of colours works brilliantly to tie you all together. Have a look at this Pinterest board which hopefully might give you some guidance or inspiration!

Something that I strongly advise against however, is anybody wearing any clothes with motiffs or patterns on, as all this does is draw attention away from all of the beautiful faces!

Can we change during te shoot?

This is becoming an increasingly popular thing to do as people want to vary the images as much as possible. People view family photo shoots as an investment (both in terms of time and money) so they want to make the most of it. Changing outfits is fine with me, but you will need to bear in mind that we will all be outside in public places so there won’t be a huge amount of privacy!

What is the best time of day to pick for our shoot?

Here’s the thing – if I were to advise you as a parent then I would always say to book one in so there’s no overlap with nap times or meal times, as this is when children can be more ‘fraught’ shall we say! As a photographer wanting to get the most of your images however, I would suggest that we avoid shooting anywhere between 11am and 3pm (especially in the height of summer) due to the strength of the sun and harsh lighting conditions. I appreciate though that this is a very difficult situation for you however to find that happy medium.

Ultimately, the most important thing is that you’re all happy and up for it, and if we have to shoot in harsh sunlight, then we all just need to bear in mind that we will be spending all of our time in the shade!

What should we do if somebody is poorly?

I am a Mum, so I totally get how children can be fine one day and then come down with something the next day. All I ask is you give me as much notice as possible and then we can rearrange for another day.

COVID-secure:

The beauty of being an outdoor family photographer is that I always use a long lens so I have no need to get too close and can keep my distance. I normally pose my families on a blanket and crates (which I provide). I will still have these on standby if needed but you are more than welcome to provide your own blanket, or opt for standing poses if you would rather, as I will be unable to clean these between families.
