Maternity Photography Information
Maternity Photographer in Chandlers Ford
Thank you for visiting Caroline Jenkins Photography. I am a Hampshire family and baby photographer and have recently added maternity photography in Chandlers Ford. I have been photographing families for the last 5 years so it made sense to add a maternity photoshoots to my portfolio as well. Only working outdoors and only using natural light means all my photos are natural and in the moment.
Before setting up Caroline Jenkins Photography, I was a primary school teacher for 13 years. So I have oodles of experience, patience and and tips for getting the best out of the children I work with! They say never work with children and animals – well I work with both and absolutely love it!
As a Mum of two plus having a family dog, I spend a lot of time outside playing and exploring. In fact my favourite type of day out is to head out with friends for a picnic and get some fresh air and sunshine!
This page should provide you with all the information that you need about how I work on a family photoshoots. If you do have any further questions however, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
I look forward to working with you!
Pregnancy is a strange time. People tell you how amazing you look, how gorgeous your bump is and how it’s such an incredible blessing to be able to grow a child. But most of the time you don’t feel amazing. You are shattered because you can’t sleep, you can only eat certain foods and forget about being able to paint your toenails!
But being pregnant is a magical experience, and I will fully hold my hand up and admit that I can only fully appreciate that now that my children are here. When you stop and think about it, a woman’s body truly is remarkable and to be able to grow and keep safe, another human, is just incredible! And definitely one that should be cherished and not taken for granted!
I am forever grateful that my husband took so many photos of my pregnancy (well my first at least – when I was pregnant with my second, I was too busy chasing a toddler around to stop for photos) because I can now look back with wonder and gratitude at what my body was able to do. This is something I know so many women wish they had – those precious images that they can enjoy for years to come. Not ones they even want to display around the house. But a memory they can hold onto for years, when pregnancy seems so long ago!
And this is the gift that I would love to be able to give to you – the gift of a maternity photoshoot that you can enjoy for years to come. The opportunity to be able to take a breath, enjoy a moment of calm and embrace the pregnancy! So many times I have heard from women that they just didn’t ever really take the time to stop in their pregnancy and they wish they had. So why not, for once, prioritise yourself and just take a minute to capture the wonder that is you!
How does a maternity photoshoot work?
The whole premise behind a maternity photoshoot in Chandlers Ford is to make you feel amazing and celebrate your pregnancy. Therefore it is important to book it at a time and location that works for you! Some ladies have one on their own, some with theor partners whilst others want their children present. These decisons are completely up to you – I just want to give those opportunities to relax, breathe and enjoy!
Although I know that posing for photos when you’re only a few weeks away from the end of your pregnancy, may be the last thing you feel like, but I do suggest booking a maternity shoot for when you’re in your third trimester. Your bump will be far bigger, more rounded and beautiful and I guarantee that you will not regret it. In fact many of the mums who I see with their newborns, say they wish they’d had a maternity shoot – something just for them!
As I am an outdoor-based photographer, I work out on location only as I have no access to a studio. This means your photos will be 100% natural and using the scenery and landscape around us. So if you’re happiest at the beach getting your feet sandy, then let’s go! If you want something with views then again, let’s head to somewhere picturesque! If you don’t know what you want, then feel free to look at my locations blog that I send to my families to help inspire them or give them some guidelines.

What is a Maternity Photoshoot on Location? As a photographer in Chandlers Ford, one of the first questions I get asked by my clients is about locations. Because I only use natural light, I work outside for 99% of my shoots apart from the newborn shoots when I am...
What should I wear?
The most important thing on the day is that you are happy and comfortable, so wear something that will enable that. Having said that, longer dresses appear to show off bumps in a more flattering way. You are welcome to bring a change of clothes although depending on where we are, there may not be toilets of changing facilities.
What should I do if I am just not feeling up to it on the day?
Don’t worry – I get it! I’ve done the pregnant thing twice so I know what it’s like to be 37 weeks whilst having worked all day or chased a toddler around. If you are not feeling it then we will postpone to a day when you are feeling better, althouh don’t leave it too long as although I would love to do birth photography, am sure you don’t want to be giving birth down at the beach with only me for companionship!! The most important thing is, that I want yuou to enjoy and relax your shoot with me!
What do we do about the weather?
Unfortunately we live in England so we know the weather is hit and miss. All we can do is hope, keep an eye on the forecast an dthen rearrange if it looks to be raining!
Can I have a mixed shoot - some of me on my own and some with my partner and kids?
Absolutely! This is your shoot so I want you to get the most from your shoot! please bear in mind though that you are the focus and the star of the show
