Enjoying Bluebell Woods

As a photographer just outside Winchester, I don’t think I could be luckier to be based where I am when it comes to three weeks a year at the end of April / beginning of May. As far as booking shoots go, it doesn’t get busier than families wanting kids photography in the bluebells in Winchester!

We are incredibly lucky to have Micheldever Woods on our doorstep, which people come from far and wide to enjoy. I am not exaggerating when I say that once you exit the car park and enter the woods, you are literally surrounded by a carpet of bluebells, the smell of which is intoxicating and the sight of which is breathtaking! I have even known young children to take a gasp of breath and beg to get in further!

Family Time in the Bluebells

This was a lovely shoot with two year old Darcy and her Mum, Nic. Mum organised it as a surprise for her husband for their 5th wedding anniversary, with the idea being that she would get some of the photos framed in nice wooden frames! As it turns out, the best laid plans never go according to plan, but that was because Nic was too excited to keep it a surprise from Dad and she told him early! Love that!! 😂

Anyway, she wanted natural pictures of Darcy and to be honest, in the bluebells, there is very little room for bespoke posing so we let Darcy run free. And we all had a great time. We played in the bluebells, we made dens and we ran around. A lot! I personally think these make for the best photos – entirely natural with not a cheesy smile in sight!

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog on what kids photography in the woods in, Winchester looks like. As you can see, photo shoots don’t need to be awkward posing and lots of sitting down. In fact, I don’t think 3 year old Darcy sat down once for me and it was all the more great fun for it!
