How do Bluebell Photoshoots work?
Bluebell photoshoots in Winchester work for different families for many different reasons – the main one being they are fun, active and shorter than family shoots! So if you have young children or children who have the attention span of a gnat, then these 30 minute sessions will be perfect for you!
I always aim to run my bluebell photoshoots towards the end of April and beginning of May although I have to be careful not to make any firm decisoins until end of March at the earliest as the weather has such a significant impact on when the bluebells flower, that I can’t risk firming up dates too far in advance in case I have to rearrange!
Once I have decided on the shoot date, I will set up a booking link. If you are registered on the priority list then you will receive the link several days before it gets published online. This means that you have more control over the date and time slot you choose to have your bluebell photoshoot at. This is great so you can plan your shoot to fit around and suit your family!
I always shoot my Bluebells in Micheldever Woods, just outside Winchester. I set up an area in the depths of the woods (you need to walk quite far in to get the full effect of the blanket of bluebells) so we are undisturbed. I will meet you in the car park so that you’re not left wandering the woods alone looking for me!
As I allow 60 minutes per session, this allows us to walk further into the woods to get to the best of the bluebells. Please note that there are quite often brambles around so you may want to bring wellies for little people to save their legs getting scratched up!.
Clothing
A lot of people struggle to know what to wear for bluebell shoots as the colours are so powerful and the last thing you want to do is clash with the flowers.
Neutral colours are advisable with as little to no patterns or motifs as possible. A common thread of colours among all family members looks great and really knits everybody together.

Location
The location for my bluebell photoshoots in Winchester will be at Micheldever Woods in Winchester. This location is know far and wide for the blanket of bluebells so it can get very busy.
If you head up the M3 come off at the Winnall roundabout and take the A34. Keep in the right-hand lane and then stay on the A33 past Kingsworthy. As the road becomes a dual carriageway, take the right hand lane and then immediately turn right onto Chillandham Lane (signposted to The Candovers and Northington). Go under the motorway bridge and then on your left will be the ‘official’ Micheldever Woods forestry commission car park. This will be overrun and crazy busy so I park further up the road on the right. It is a much smaller car park but the bluebells are just as stunning this side of the road, and far less busy (shh don’t tell everybody though – it’s a secret)! I will meet you here.
I will pass on my phone number in case you need me, but please be aware that I get limited to no reception over in the woods so it is worth familiarising yourself with Google maps first. please be aware though – if you type Micheldever Woods into your sat nav, it will take you to a completely different part of the woods!
How do I book?
If you want to book a bluebell photoshoot in Winchester then you’ll be pleased to hear that the booking process is simple. Click the link below and you will be taken to my booking form where you will be able to select the time that is best for you and your family. As I mentioned earlier, I am allowing 60 minutes per family so that we have enough time to walk to and from the car park and so we are not rushing.
Once you have booked, you will receive a confirmation email with Client Experience Guide and Participant Questionnaire attached. Please complete the questionnaire so that I get as much information in advance about all the participants of the shoot, especially the little people. This helps me to hit the ground running so I can get the best out of them in the time that I have! You will also receive an invoice for £85 which will cover the cost of the shoot plus 3 images (this is the Mini Bronze minishoot package which is also the basic package).

What Happens After the Shoot?
7-10 days after the shoot you will receive a link to your private and protected gallery. This will contain your images (in both colour and black & white) which you can share with others. You can mark your favourites by clicking on the heart icon. Once you have decided upon your chosen 3 images (if you have paid for the Mini Bronze Package) then please let me know and I will delete the remaining images and enable download functionality for your chosen images. If you are unable to decide upon just three images and would like to upgrade to the Mini Silver or Mini Gold Packages, just get in contact and I will organise this for you!

We did a mini shoot with Caroline near Winchester last year! Caroline was fantastic with my daughter who is a cheeky 3 year old, we had so many beautiful pictures that I decided to get all of them. If you really want to make the most from your shoot though, I always suggest that a similar theme of colours works brilliantly to tie you all together. I will send you links to my Pinterest boards once you have booked, and hopefully this will help inspire you with colours and styling.
Something that I strongly advise against however, is anybody wearing any clothes with motiffs or patterns on, as all this does is draw attention away from all of the beautiful faces!

Ultimately, the most important thing is that you’re all happy and up for it, and if we have to shoot in harsh sunlight, then we all just need to bear in mind that we will be spending all of our time in the shade!
