Baby Photography Information
Baby Photographer in Chandlers Ford
Thank you for visiting Caroline Jenkins Photography. I am a Hampshire family and baby photographer in Chandlers Ford and I have been photographing families in Hampshire.
As a photographer who only uses natural light, my photos are flattering, natural and in-the-moment.
Before setting up Caroline Jenkins Photography, I was a primary school teacher for 13 years, so I like to think I have a fair bit of experience when it comes to working with children. I know that babies are a complete law unto themselves, but I am patient and am happy to be lead by you all.
This page should provide you with all the information that you need about how my baby photoshoots work. If you do have any further questions however, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
I look forward to working with you!
Having a newborn baby is a rollercoaster of emotions. Whether it is your first baby or your fifth baby, there are some things that don’t change; like how scrunched up they are at the beginning, to how small their feet are to oh how cute and spiky their baby hair is! Meanwhile you’re wondering if you will ever sleep or have a hot cuppa ever again! At the back of your mind you’re probably thinking it would be nice to have some decent photos of you all, but how and when do you have the time to organise this? Especially if you have a toddler to deal with as well. As a baby photographer in Chandlers Ford I can help – capturing everyday and beautiful moments, before the kid is old enough to run away!
I always hold baby photoshoots in the family home as I believe that it makes for a far more relaxed and natural shoot. Plus it is lovely to capture the whole family amongst all their ‘stuff’ and memories. It is also so much easier for an older sibling to be entertained and distracted if they are surrounded by all their own books and toys.
I don’t go in for props or costumes – it’s all about the simple and natural moments for me – those that capture your everyday lives. For example – if your baby has a poonami, not a problem – get them in the bath and we’ll get some great bubble bath photos! Similarly if they decide the only thing for it is to have a nap – great! Let’s capture them in their cot / moses basket surrounded by their comforters!
Older Baby Photoshoots
Newborn photoshoots are great for capturing the cuddly and sleepy moments – whether it’s having a cuddle with older siblings or the whole family having a moment. Similarly I just love shooting older babies, when their individual personalities and characters really come to life. 7-10 months is the ideal age for me as a baby photographer in Chandlers Ford as they are generally sitting, showing an interest in toys (and the camera) and just loving life! It is lovely to capture these moments in their bedrooms or surrounded by their favourite toys. Shoots can also include a bath, a meal, or story time – whatever moments you want to remember forever!
For you to enjoy, not worry about
As a Mum of two myself, I get it! Babies don’t conform to a ‘norm’. I get that they may need a nappy change just as I arrive, or may need feeding every hour. And that is ok. My baby photoshoots are baby-led so we will fit in around what baby needs. There is no point trying to shoehorn a shoot in between the school run and a Baby Sensory class, because 9 times out of 10 the babies will have other ideas. This is why I like to allow up to 3 hours for my shoots. This may seem like a long time, but it flies by in a flash believe me. It allows for everyone to just chill and relax – if baby is unhappy then I can concentrate on the older children, and if baby is happy then we just go for it! The most important thing though, is that you all enjoy yourselves!
So, you have decided that a baby photoshoot in Hampshire is the way forward, you are happy to have it at home and you have pinpointed dates. What do you do next?
Firstly you need to contact me. You are, of course, welcome to call and have a chat but I know how difficult it can be to have an interruption-free conversation.
Secondly, I will invoice you for the session fee. I run my shoots so that you only need to pay the session fee in advance. This covers the cost of the shoot and all my editing time. After that has been paid, I will then book you onto the system and you will receive an appointment through email.
After the shoot, I will email you a private link to your gallery. During the time that you are looking through your photos, it’s worth considering what products would work well in your house. I am happy to bring them along to our shoot if you would like to see the quality, but please mention it in advance as I do not carry them around with me.
After that, you need inform me how you would like to proceed. I will invoice you, order the necessary products and send you the download link to your photos. Hopefully your goodies will arrive within 10 working days and you will then have the most beautiful new products to adorn your home! And, most importantly, you will have those memories to enjoy every single day.

With a newborn baby and an almost 2 year old the thought of a newborn photo shoot at home was slightly nerve wracking, however we weren’t keen on the posed newborn photos and wanted some more natural ones in our new home. We found Caroline’s details online and really loved her style of photography.
Caroline was absolutely fantastic and made us feel completely at ease. Within a few minutes I felt as though we had known her for years. She was amazing with our toddler and was happy to work around him. She was incredibly patient and managed to capture some truly precious family moments. We are absolutely thrilled with the photos. They are exactly what we wanted, even better in fact. Caroline is extremely talented and we are so glad that we found her. I can not recommend her highly enough!
Thank you so much Caroline.

What should we wear?
The most important thing is that you are all comfortable. I generally advise my families that a common theme of colours that tie everyone together as well as avoiding big patterns or mottifs work well. Having said that however, you will probably want to dress your baby in your favourite outfits so you can forever hold onto this image!
Will I have to tidy my entire house?
Absoluitely not! Please do not panic. I know what it is like – you don’t seem to have a spare moment to tidy despite all the naps! It would be wonderful to shoot in your room / the nursery and one other room with the most space and best light. I always use natural light as much as possible, so anything with lots opf windows is perfect!
My house isn't that big - can we still have a shoot there?
Please don’t worry – I always bring my whole selection of lenses so I don’t need that much space as can get quite close to you all.
Is it possible to have the shoot outdoors rather than in my homw?
Of course – you are the client and you are making an investment into these images, so I want to make them perfect for you! Ideally – if you wanted shots outdoors then your baby would be a sitter becasue then we can do a lot more with them. It can be difficult to pose babies outdoors when they’re non-sitters. hvaing said that – I would be happy to try!
I really like the pictures of the babies all swaddled, can you include these in the shoot?
Sorry but I am not trained or qualified to do these types of photos. These are a painstakingly lomng process and are a real art, hence why I take the more natural ones. I can recommend photographers who can do them if you are interested.
