Hi my name is Caroline and I am a family photographer in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire. Apart from my family, my number 1 passion and love in life is dogs! I have a chocolate labrador but am seemingly unable to walk past any dog without sitting on the floor with them and making friends. It then seemed an inevitability that I would add dog photoshoots to my list of shoots, for no other reason that I got to spend an hour with more fur babies, and got to treat their owners with beautiful photographs to treasure forever!

Teddy the Labradoodle

Whenever a client books me for a dog photoshoot, I always ask what sort of images they are after. 9 times out of the 10 the answer comes back that they want me to capture the essence and spirit of their dog. As the dog’s owner, you know them better than anybody and know if a nice photo of them lying calmly and contentedly is impossible. Or maybe lying calmly and contentedly doesn’t really capture them. maybe they would be better with a stick or ball?  This was the sitaution with Teddy here. As a ball-obsessed 3 year old, there was no way I was ever going to get him chilled out or lying down anywhere. Mum and I had to work hard to get him to focus on the ball and then do basic commands so that I could capture him before he was off again! Teddy is not known for his calm and laid-back personality, so capturing him chasing the ball was the perfect way to capture his spirit!

Deerleap – the walk

Deerleap is a fabulous place to visit for a dog walk. It is on the outskirts of the New Forest and so has that spacial and free feeling about it. It is a great dog walk if your dog wants space just to run free, chase a ball or walk for miles. Just be warned though – there are often New Forest ponies grazing here so just be careful!

I will be writing up the walk soon as part of my family-friendly dog walk series.
